Saviour Impulse: Shield / Gun 2

As per the comment by Aulon a couple of posts back, I had completely forgotten that the Saviour stores its beam sabers in the shoulder rack, unlike Impulse which doesn't have any at all (unless it is equipped with the Force Silhouette packs). So I'll have to compensate by changing the arms.

EDIT: Or not. I'll put the beam sabers in the shield. ;p Saviour still needs arms though.

Saviour Impulse: Shield

There could stand to be more grid/honeycomb detail on the backside -- possibly more definition in the nose sensors, but I'm not too unhappy about it. It seems like it might work out ok.

Saviour Impulse: Beam Rifle

In general I went with the Saviour rifle I made before, but jazzed it up with the newer impulse's rifle stuffs. They rifles they use are not the same (just the "supposed" technology which stems back to the Freedom/Justice beam rifles). It's getting somewhere...

Saviour Impulse: Backpack 3

I added a little bit of detail, some missing parts and repaired a few displaced components on the cannons themselves. From the images that I uploaded of the Chaos-Impulse, Gaia-Impulse, and Abyss-Impulse it seems that the backpacks are the main component of those respective systems but retain a few other required details in order to fit their roles. The side skirt on the waist seems to be similar if not identical to the original Chaos, Gaia and Abyss machines, so I imported and fixed up my old Saviour side skirt. I didn’t start from scratch because Bee-Crafts version of the Saviour's (side skirt) doesn’t seem different enough to require it.

I’m sure to a certain degree that as the shield will likely need be the same as the Bee-Craft version (or acceptably similar). The gun will probably need to be so as well. What makes me wonder the most are the legs… not sure if the would-be Savour-Impulse would use the Saviours legs or the Impulses. While Chaos-Impulse looks like the regular Impulses, the other two feature subtle differences relative to the original Gundam's specific roles. In any case, for the Saviour I’ll have to make the (lower) legs anyway but for this Saviour Impulse, they might just stay “Impulsey”

Saviour Impulse: Backpack 2

Still going strong. The booster/cannons have yet to be finished, but they're kind of in place back there. I'm fairly certain that they are scaled correctly thus far. Need to finish them and then hit the fin/stabilizer.

Rick Dom: Heat Rod

I wanted to do more, but last night I was out of it for a while. Got very little done as a consequence. Still, "something" is "something"... not that it took more than a few minutes....

Saviour Impulse: Backpack 1

Again and again I planned to return to the Saviour to give it that extra SHAZAM! But I was always diverted to another idea or project. So instead of starting from scratch on the Saviour or starting from where I left off on the very old mesh, I thought… “HEY! Why not make the Saviour backpack a SILHOUETTE!!??” Sure, it never happened in the show(s) nor in the manga(s) as far as I’m aware, but there seems to exist a Chaos-Impulse, Gaia-Impulse and Abyss-Impulse (or at least the idea exists). Wondered why there wasn’t a Saviour-Impulse, but if I had to guess, it’s possible that one of the previous Impulse variations might have only made the design redundant. Speculation of course, but I thought about going ahead with the Silhouette idea anyway.

Truthfully, I don’t actually know if the MSV (XXX) Impulses are actually silhouette system packs (they don’t look like it) but seeing as how the Impulse, Chaos, Abyss, Saviour, and Gaia are “second stage” units, I figured basing the Saviour’s chassis on the Impulse and in that frame of mind, making the Saviours backpack part of the Silhouette system (hard wired on the Saviour itself – but attachable to the Impulse for lulz).
Then obviously graduate to changing the actual Impulse chassis to the Saviours. Not a tall order, really. Just putting it down in words so that I can keep on track.

The re-re-start of the backpack…as a silhouette. Still need to do some adjustments on the base.

Full Armor Gundam: Armor 1

Doesn't look like much has changed, but I've been working on the shoulder armor and the waist flaps somewhat. diverges a little from katoki's design, but for the "more interesting" side I think... er... I hope.

Rick Dom: Arms

Don't seem that bad. The shoulder section was a bit different than I thought it would be and the forearms are a little simplistic, but it's not that far off I think. Another peek at beecrafts mechanical designs should help spruce this up.

I guess it wouldn't really be the rick dom without the beam bazooka. Of course, it wouldn't be a rick dom without some arms and legs either, so I'll get on them when I figure them out. For now, it's just the weapons. ;p

Kind of fiddling around again trying to see if the armor can be squeezed on right. I might have goofed and made the cockpit hatch-armor too wide and other places may need to be physically welded together, but the shapes are there.

Rick Dom: Waist

I thought it would turn out a little tricky but it seems to work as it is. I guess it's the rounding stuff after all that throws me off a bit. It's coming together though. Not liking the idea of having to do the legs, but they don't seem anywhere near as bad as making the Nightingales or the Qubeleys.

Not exactly a lot online detailing the backpack as much as I wanted, so some of the detail is made up...ahem. But it's there to look at. Generally it looks about right, plus or minus.

Had to go out and buy more fans to keep the computer running as cool as possible. But had a little time to get some Dom done. A bit more of the body, thankfully. Used a few parts from other MS's to help.

Rick Dom / Xamel -> GO!!

mobile suit gundam 0083 stardust memories rick dom xamel 3d mesh cg sandrum

Looking at the roster I've got to the left there, it becomes obvious that there is a severe lack of Zeon/Neo Zeon/Axis MS present, especially compared to the amount of "Gundam" suits. So I thought I'd try to rectify that Zeon handicap a little. Actually, my wife thought of it and I'm going to rectify it. She seems to lean more towards axis/zeon suits.
I really enjoyed watching Gundam 0083 (mostly for the bg story and mech. The "love story" is quite bad) and in that spirit I figured on trying some MS that looked very little like a "Gundam".
The Xamel is not an obvious choice, but it's one I haven't seen many people make. I thought it might be a fun one to go through, but I didn't know where to start until the Rick Dom popped into my head. I thought that perhaps it might be feasible to build that Dom and fashion parts from the Dom into the Xamel and repair as necessary.

M'kay, so the Rick Dom's head start.... but I guess you knew that ;p Got a few smoothing errors but nothing to be too concerned about at the moment.

Full Armor Gundam: Dual Cannon

Attached to the right arm. I was going to just parent them to the right arm, but Layout isn't going to have it, so I cut and pasted the finished assembly directly on to the right arm instead. Rotated the left arms cannon thingies since I actually had them upside down.

Full Armor Gundam: GO!

Saw a pic in Ninjascience's flickr account and thought "Why not?" Good old Mr. Katoki has basically made it kind of easy by using his Gundam KA design as a jump off point for so many of his mechs. I like the way this one looks (as opposed to the older design). The image katoki drew is at odds with the finished piece so I'll go with the finished piece since it looks really nice.

Nightingale: Shield

The shield is pretty close, but no cigar. After that I still need to rescale everything to look a little better. I think this mesh is actually twice the height that it should be...
...not to mention one of the fanels/funels is now out of place.... strange.

Nightingale: Legs 2

Took forever to get the style the way it is now. In despiration, I went with the beginnings of the Qubeley legs and reformed them into the Sazabi legs -- kinda. Did some cuts and what-not in order to get it to look like some of the pics I've seen but it doesn't appear quite as streamlined yet which means I still have work to do. Topping it off with some needed detail means that I'm still far from the finish.

Nightingale: Beam Rifle

Seems like this rifle in particular is rather boxy in most of the pictures I've seen, so it's reflected in the images below. It was either this, one of Windfalls variants, or a variation of the Gerbera's beam rifle. Up in the air on that one atm.

The legs of the MS are still kicking my arse for the time being...
