Lunamaria's Zaku Warrior

I guess the color variants are worth going through if the Wizard packs are supposed to also be there. Lunamaria's Zaku Warrior color scheme is darker than the one that comes with the kit, but I may also have the lights a bit too bright and could use some toning down.

Zaku Warrior: Surface 1

The only real difference is the pauldron for the zaku warrior changing out the shield and shield shoulder armor. Still green/forest green/urban green.

Zaku Phantom: Surface 1

The surfacing is a little dicey, I think. Compared to other meshes, I think there is more detail in general in terms of polygons so it took longer to finish this up to this point. I imagine a Zaku Phantom is still green normally, but can be customized like the Zaku Warrior.

Zaku Warrior: Rifle 2

I have this feeling like the energy disk for the rifle should rotate to the side to fit on waist better -- I can't remember where I saw that feature and I'm not sure it was in Seed. Trying to add some more detail.

Zaku Warrior: Rifle 1

I don't recall previous beam rifles being as complicated for a while, maybe the Unicorn with the removable magazine(s). I feel like other Zaku's in other universes should also be as detailed.

Zaku Warrior: Pauldron

I like how the design is to separate the pauldron armor into segments as the original design is very boring otherwise, but interesting that there is only one spike vs the zaku II's multiple. I'd wonder also if the shield throws off the balance somehow, but I guess if there's a wizard pack attached, it's a bit easier to deal with?

Zaku Phantom: Shield 2

THe funny part is that the Master Grade doesn't even have a place to store the axe in the shield, so I just hollowed out a section of geometry for one. Could be better...

Zaku Warrior: Shield

I recall seeing the master grade and being disappointed that one of the big things they missed was the inclusion of the beam axe in the shield. It was somewhere in the first episode of Gundam Seed Destiny and the placement was pretty good. I think the older High grade had the axe, but for some reason the MG just didn't have it. Maybe other variations do.

Zaku Warrior / Phantom: Legs 2

I totally forgot that without the rounded shoulder section with the horn (I'll figure out the name), it's more like a Zaku Phantom instead of the Warrior, even without the Blaze wizard pack. So I'll have to get to that part somehow. Just seeing where the legs are right now.

Zaku Warrior: Leg 1

This is easily one of the more detailed leg parts I've ever come across in the Gundam universe. Breaking the Zaku Warrior leg into addressible portions looks to be the only way to get through this while keeping fidelity for each of the parts and keeping general shape/design intact. In some ways I wish other mobile suits were like this, but I feel like this particular design was created to be complicated on purpose.

Zaku Warrior: Waist

The waist section in the master grade zaku warrior is probably one of the most detailed skirt sections I've ever encountered and it makes the model look very busy. I can't say I hate it and over the original that I tooled around with years ago, it certainly looks like it has utility.

Zaku Warrior: Hands

Finally working with the hands and doing something different. I've always wanted to do something different with zaku hands but was super lazy to do anything.

Zaku Warrior: Arms 1

The spacenoid suits are interesting in that the fingers/manipulators aren't the hard-edge boxy type that the earth suits tend to have. I have to get back into the hand parts and redo those.

Zaku Warrior: Body

I feel like this Mobile Suit body is one of the more difficult ones because of the more angular design despite the classic flare. Anyway, at least it's progressing. I had an idea of what to do with it as well.

Zaku Warrior: Head

I had a zaku warrior mesh a while back but I've lost it through the years. Figure I'll give it another go this time around, several years later.

Zaku Warrior: Side Grade

Trying to side-grade the zaku warrior a little with a degree of success. I think I'll end up changing what I've done so far: its just a little "envisioning". Some parts have been changed to be able to move and other gear (like water/food tanks) has been added, but is damn near impossible to see at this angle. The larger tanks in the back are just placeholders (possibly). Just prototyping (if I may call it that).

Zaku Warrior: Gunner 3

The Gunner wizard pack is mostly there. The cable isn't in the image, but will be. The gun is a bit over sized comparatively (which I like).

Strike Freedom: Shutsugeki

It's about time. Took forever just to get to this point and now the image looks too saturated with "stuff". Should have made it simpler ;)
