Astray: Flight Unit 4

Ok, at this point I'm thinking [something is better than nothing] so I fired up lightwave and started on the surfacing for the flight pack. That's about all I've started lately. I'd be great to get back into this with my whole arse soon. I think I'll totally resurface the Astray(s) as well now that we're on that subject.

Astray: Flight Unit 3

Well... I'm pretty sure it's a little too large. Nothing like a look-see to know if you're going in the right direction. Anywho, I've been busy these last few weeks with some coding issues so I had to put some of this on the old back burner, but hopefully I can get back to this asap.

Astray: Flight Unit 2

I think most everything is there, at least as placeholders while I detail some of the bits and bobs. Some parts need to be shaped properly, but I'm fairly certain that it's usable thusly -- that is, after jiggling some parts around. Oh, sure, I have to drop some parts downward a bit and gussy up some other parts. I don't want it to be too poly heavy as the Astray is already memory demanding as it is. Hopefully I can start texturing within the next few days.

Astray: Flight Unit

I confess that I'm more than a little disappointed with Bandai's move to include a rehashed version of the tactical arms for the MG Astray Red Frame. I had hoped they would instead have included the flight unit.
I went ahead and started dabbling on the flight pack based on what Bee-Craft illustrated in the Perfect Grade instruction manual. Kind of ho-hum but I think that in the end it will nice to have.

Sword Strike: testin

I'm not thrilled at all with the color scheme of the sword pack. Anyway, starting up textures -- not pretty at all yet.

Sword Striker: Midas Messer

The beam boomerang and shoulder assembly are kind of there as well. Figured I'd get it up and running and then tweak it all.

Sword Striker: Panzer Eisen

Rocket anchor/ mini shield device attached to the arm. In trying to go with BEE-Craft's version, I noticed that it bore similarities with the upper portion of the IWSP's upper portion of the shield. So I snipped that off of the IWSP and reworked it a little bit so that it resembled (somewhat) that of the design BEE-CRAFT made with his Panzer Eisen. Then I attached the shield rotation device that was designed for the Strike's shield. This is in contrast to the "L" bracket that is otherwise used. With the rotation device, the Panzer Eisen can be positioned and repositioned on either side or behind the forarm. Not perfect... but...

Sword Striker: Sword

Yeesh....still on it. I've compacted the backpack a bit so it sits farther in the range of the striker attachment area and so that the sword can be just behind the right arm..but it still needs correction as you can see. Still pounding out the kinks though.

Sword Striker: Backpack 1

sword strike gundam seed 3d mesh cg sandrum

In a similar attempt to the Launcher pack, trying for Bee-Craft's (right) version of Okawara's (Left) Sword striker pack. I don't know that I'll ever do the lightning striker pack as there are even fewer (of the Perfect Grade type) images that Bee-Craft made to use. Only one image of that kind of pack is really usable -- that would be the rear illustration featured in the Strike Rouge manual. Afterward would be too much guessing for the Lightning striker.

Unfortunately I have to take another trip to Sendai city this weekend so I don't have much time (again). Alas, the sword striker pack is started, though with more guesswork than the Launcher pack. This is the "fiddling around" stage. I can already tell it needs to be thinned out a bit.

Launcher: Cannon 1

Thanks to one of the links in the last posts comments I was able to get the very basics for the cannon. It needs to be a lot wider and much of it needs to be distributed a little differently than I've got, but it's a start.

Launcher: Backpack

So, I thought, "Hey, I've got the IWSP, AILE, and NOIR striker packs, why not go for some others"? Problem is that the only useful images are for the lower grade-ish plastic models... except one. Apparently Bee-Craft (the designer for some of the fancier Gundam Seed models) created a Launcher and Sword striker pack (on paper) for the Perfect Grade Strike Gundam. They're of course only ideas and never realized, but I think they could be quite useful in forging something out of them.

Anyway, the Okawara front version is above on the left and the Bee-Craft (PG concept) is on the right. I haven't been able to find a front version of that particular concept art so I'll have to keep digging as usual.

So the Launcher striker pack has been started from Bee-Crafts foundation artwork and using an earlier version of the strike that I put together. Wow, that Strike's getting old!

Strike Noir: Noir Pack 2

I'm stupefied at the amount of detail that appears to be present in the Master Grade Noir plastic model. Basically it means that I'm still not done at all and have quite a ways to go. But I'll probably have to guess at what lies in the angles that I can't see from pictures.

Did it for the LOLZ (as they say) since today has been a not so great day. Just for the kick of seeing things fit without having to mess with a lot of things.
