Saviour Gundam: Redo 1

Went back and irked at the old Saviour so I'm going back through the motions to rebuild the basics so that it looks closer in detail to Freedom. BEE-CRAFT made a decent amount of line art for it, but of course it's not for a master grade and so there are some things that won't look right to me if I don't re arrange some things -- mostly in the legs. I'm not totally going to base it off the line-art since too much has already been made before and I don't want to do a total reconstruction. Because of that I'll probably use frame parts of other machines (WING ZERO,FREEDOM) to reconstruct some of it.
This shouldn't take too long since it's just a redo.

FAZZ: Sentinel Type Complete

Finally trudged through the textures and came out with something. The gun is pulled back toward the body a bit and so the cable is snagged against the body. A rotation of the gun forward a bit will fix this.

Road to Sentinel: FAZZ 12

The FAZZ for the Double Zeta Gundam series is pretty much like the one posted in the previous post... however, the FAZZ for the Sentinel series differs in construction in the backpack (which is done), a bit of the feet and in the head. I'm just getting around to it now....

Well, after adding some surfaces and rechecking, I found some parts that could be consolidated so that I could reduce some layers... but now I also created some parenting/scaling issues so I'll have to iron that out a bit before I go further.

Getting the chest armor all sized up. A bit off I think (from the gff version not the plastic version) so I'll have to resize a bit more...but getting close.

Still going. The lower arms looked kind of large with the armor because I went with the plastic kits. Still, the armor is removable which is good and does add to the gargantuan feel.

The arm armor doesn't seem too difficult, but I'm not sure whether or not to add a shoulder protection piece as it seems to hinder movement. I might leave it as is and see how the end result turns out and make a final decision then.

Both ZZ Gundam FAZZ and Sentinel Gundam FAZZ series machine backpacks are almost done. I think I'll finish off small detail with bump maps on this too. The backpack wings are colliding with the legs -- nothing to worry about at the moment ;)

Road to Sentinel: FAZZ 5

Modifying the existing backpack (from the ZZ) to the Enhanced backpack. There is little difference -- technically. However, the Fix Figuration figure is slightly different than that of the plastic model... I'm sort of mixing the attributes this time, but largely it looks like the plastic model version.

Katoki's studio widened some parts of the FAZZ's armor when they created the little figure as opposed to the thin/skinny armor on the plastic models. Going for the former on this one as it ads to the style a bit... Soooo, starting the waist.

Road to Sentinel: FAZZ 2

Getting closer to done with the legs. These are based off of the small figure by Hajime Katoki. The boosters are lowered down more than they are in the plastic model because the figure is the same way (which I like). Have to resize the feet, add a small amount of "screw" detail and redo the lower intake.

Road to Sentinel: FAZZ 1

Mkay, so going to change the ZZ Gundam into the Full Armor ZZ (FAZZ) one component at a time. There is more than one version of the FAZZ, one type used in the ZZ Gundam television series (Neo-Zeon war), and a different type used in the Sentinel series. Although they appear similar, they are a bit different aside from color. After that, Katoki Hajime must have thought it would be interesting to redo his previous FAZZ redesign yet again, slightly tweaking on what existed. The result is present in the Gundam Fix Figuration series.
OK, so I'm starting on the Legs up instead of the head down.

ZZ Gundam: Booster 2

I forgot to change my smoothing settings after my last drive crashed, so the smoothing problems have returned. I'll get to them. For now, the pack is done... just need to bump map a bit.

Giving a start to the booster. When it's converted to the Full Armor system, the backpack is replaced to support more missiles and the "hyper mega launcher". For now though, just the regular booster.

I think some parts of the legs could be accentuated more like the Figure over the Model and so that's what I think I'll do to remove some of the "stubbyness".

Ok, getting close on the arms too. The GFF Figure does not have a rotation point in the mid elbow, so I eliminated it -- as it's present in the Master Grade plastic model.

HD: Failure: Alleviated

Hard Drive 1 crashed this morning. Have to restore everything. Will definately take the day to restore.

EDIT: Nevermind. Replaced the defective drive with the already mounted 2nd drive over lunch. It seems that the 2nd drive will do fine as a replacement. Need to buy 1 extra drive to copy what's on the replacement drive and copy what work I've backed up on the external to the replacement.

Just as sort of a note: The work so far done has been backed up in multiple places in the following forms...

  1. External 120GB HD (USB2) - Noncompressed. No encryption. Stored as is. Stored after every project step. (the most up-to-date backup).
  2. Sony HI-MiniDisc Drive - Compressed. Each project on 1 standard MD Disc (300MBper disc - 256bit Encryption). Stored after completion of 1 project.
  3. DVD-RW Drive - Appx 4.3GB about 10 -15 projects per disc. Compressed. 256bit encryption before writing to disc. Stored after completion of at least 10 projects. (the least up-to-date).
  4. CD-RW Drive - Appx 700MB per disc. 1 - 2 projects per disc. Compressed. 256 bit Encryption before writing to disc. Stored every 2 projects.
  5. External Network Storage Service - per project compression. 256bit encrytion before transmission. 128bit encrytion on top during transmission. Stored after completion of 1 project.
  6. External Network Storage Service 2 - per project compression. 256bit encrytion before transmission. 128bit encrytion on top during transmission. Stored after completion of 1 project.
Redundancy is an asset.

The side skirt is "floating" as it's actually supposed to be connected directly to the upper leg.

Getting a good start on the waist. Seems to be not much of a rear skirt on this as there's a claw that connects the waist to the backpack and rotates in down for transformation.

ZZ Gundam: Body 2

Folding up the Neo Core Fighter and inserting it into the chest cavity. The size of the fighter is somewhat larger than the Core Splendor for the Impulse Gundam and ends up making up the lower portion of the stomach. Got some smoothing errors in this render to address.

ZZ Gundam: Neo Core Fighter

I don't much like the word (NEO) in front of Core Fighter, but whatever works I guess. Anyway, since this is part of the "body" I'm starting this too. The Core Fighter in the show is a little more rounded than what I've got now so I suppose I'll give it a change up when I get the basics ironed out.

ZZ Gundam: Body 1

Starting back up with the ZZ Gundam. Just started the ol body. It shouldn't be that bad considering the transformation isn't into the G-Fortress isn't exactly like the transformation of the Zeta into Waverider.
