GM KAI: Bazooka

Uh, ok. So this is A bazooka for the GM KAI. Actually, Katoki Hajime seems to have created 2 versions of the GM KAI, at least as far as toys/figures/models go. One GM KAI has no vents on the upper part of the torso (between the shoulders and the neck) while a second version, specifically for the Gundam Fix Figuration seems to have those vents installed -- similar in fashion to the GM Quel or Gundam NT-1 (Alex). In this way, the Fix Figuration version is also similar to Katoki's version of "Gundam" (the original). It's all very confusing. On top of that MAHQ shows one type of bazooka that the GM can use (looks like the version used by the Gundam MK-II) while Katoki designates the bazooka used by the original Gundam in the Fix Figuration line. AAAAA!!! Anyway, I'm using the MK-II's bazooka as I figured it would be something of a head start if I ever did the MK-II. Gotta work with some seams and bump map it (as usual).

GM KAI: Shield

Taking a break from world cup to make the GM KAI shield... I'm so glad that it's virtually identical to the Gundam ver. KA shield. Looks like only a small port over to make it official looking.

GM KAI

sandrum

Probably not a big deal, just another GM. I expect that since this bears such heavy similarities to the GM QUEL, it shouldn't take very long to finish. The extra good news is that the chassis is just a small jump away from looking like the Gundam version KA (retro redesigned by Katoki Hajime, as is this GM). This coupled with the Advance of Zeta GM's being based off of this GM means a lot can be done with this thing, especially in the case that I'll need some Federation cannon fodder for the Neue Ziel. :D

Ok, so the start...

GM KAI: Waist

Basically I just reverted to an older, saved version of the GM Quel waist and remodelled some of it, as the shape of the Quel and KAI waists are slightly different. Still, it was much easier than starting from scratch.

GM KAI: Exch Rifle

Ok, so this kai actually has a rifle that has different barrels that attach to the same butt. You can tell that I'm not up to date on firearms terminology. Anyway, I'll just leave the parts in this configuration, though it's capable of looking like the Quel's firearms by just changing off the barrel assembly. Note that I didn't include the box ammunition at the rear of the rifle.

Powered GM: practice

Kinda like the last gm (kai) image I rendered out. Wow, that was a while ago too.

GM III: Conversion 1

I feel like I'm on a Unicorn kick. Actually, I thought that getting a few more suits from that era would be good for background purposes so why not start with an "easy to convert" grunt suit.
Working on the upper body for now. So far the head and front skirt are redone with some help from the GM Quel while the backpack and shoulder armor are from the MKII (albeit slightly modified) while the rest of the body is basically the GM Kai. The shield is the Gundam KA version, with the cruciform that I forgot to model for it. Still going on the upper parts as they're obviously not done...

GM III: Conversion 2

Replaced the GM Kai's arms with slightly altered Gundam MKII arms, then redid the rear skirt armor. The Gundam ver KA's shanks came in handy for the shins of the GMIII and I redid some of the calf area a wee bit while also cutting into the Achilles area of the armor to bring out some of the machine parts inside. I went a little high on the knee armor assembly so I'll lower it. Though still working on the lower legs, meaning the MKII thrusters on the outer calves are just placeholders (I promise). I'm still thinking about the shoulder pods (which I will add). Apparently, as shown in Katoki's poster [THE BATTLE AT THE PORT OF DAKAR] 2 GM's are depicted without the pod equipment on the shoulders -- though everything else seems similar. I have to guess that the pod armament is optional...

GM KAI: Messaround

Messing around with it. A bit of a manipulation here.

GM KAI: Done

...and the terrible finish. I guess I'll make the Advance of Zeta conversions for this thing later. I need to figure out how to model a Zaku F2 quick ;)

GM KAI: Legs

The top of the calf section seems to wharp strangely whenever I try to cut more detail into it so I think I'll just bump map the rest of that.

GM KAI: Arms 1

Since I'm getting somewhere with the arms fairly quickly, I think I'll call it a night. I'll fix what I need to later....must sleep...

GM KAI: Body

Not an amazing design as of now, but still something that should be made.

GMIII: Conversion 4

Probably not spot on. It's not easy to tell exactly which GMIII to go on. I think the rear section of the pod is a little to large and I still have to get to the leg boosters which the shield is colliding with. But I've managed to get most of the launchers attached to the waist and get a generally acceptable set of pods on the shoulder armor. I also raised the rear skirt a little so that it wouldn't sit so low, but again the [BATTLE AT THE PORT OF DAKAR] scene seems to implicate slightly different parts for the rear waist, more akin to the GM kai...
Anyway a little extra detail here and there and somewhat of a redo for the leg boosters and that should do'er.
