Zaku II J: Textures Alpha

I'm trying to texture up a bunch of the OYW suits at the same time. This is kind of an alpha version of the Zaku, but it takes forever to render. I need to steady out some of the surfaces so that they look less plain and get some actual dirt look to the ...uh..dirt. Needs bumps and the works, but it's kind of the start of an interesting idea I had. Well, I thought it was interesting... We'll see.

Wow that looks fantastic :O

Maybe you should put some scratches on the armor. It looks worn out, but totally unscathed.

I really like the military blades on the front of the head, that's a great touch!

The exquisite details are given with some dirt mapping? and colored after? could you tell us some of the techniques applied here?
Congratulations man!! this is art!

I don’t think this is very military like, even if it was in a museum or something they wouldn’t let an expensive piece of hardware like that get all rusty. I could see a Stutzer being like that maybe but nothing during the OYW would have had a chance to get like that. Unless are you preparing to do a turn A seen? But even those Suits were covered in the protective nano machines, they wouldn’t have had a chance to get rusty either.

@all: It was supposed to come out camouflage when finished -- it's not supposed to be rust. The brown is supposed to be some clumped up dirt when the bump mapping is done -- can be washed off. Again, an "idea I had".

@z-t-t: Precisely why I've never put rust on any before. However, I would not discount non military elements that have taken a machine and not properly cared for it.

I suppose you have a point there, I just can't imagine having one and not spending the extra money to keep it pretty, but then again my reasons for having one would probably be very different. lmao
